The average age when Dutch workers retired last year rose to 63-years-old, according to the Central Bureau of Statistics. The research organisation predicts that will continue to rise to 65 this year.

Between 2000 and 2006, workers in the Netherlands retired at the average age of 61-years-old. From 2007, that figure rose as changes in legislation put limits on early retirement. By 2011, the average retirement age had risen to 63.1-years-old. That is a 30 percent increase compared to 2006.

The lowest average age for retirement is in the construction and administration sectors at 62.2-years-old. The oldest retirees are in the agriculture and fisheries, culture and other services at 64.5-years-old.
