Police arrested eight suspects over the weekend on suspicion of assaulting staff at the Rotterdam public transport company, RET. Rotterdam-Rijnmond police confirmed the arrests late Monday.
Shortly before midnight on Sunday, multiple police units were called to the metro station after calls from RET for “emergency assistance.” Upon arrival, inspectors found a number of suspects fighting with station employees. Four RET workers were injured at the scene.
The eight men who were arrested range from 16 to 25-years-old. One of them was carrying a baseball bat and a knife. Others were found with marijuana and screwdrivers. All items were confiscated and the suspects were taken to police headquarters for questioning.
