Semi-circles for ATM safety

By The Holland Times Thursday 01 July 2010, 12:07

Police, local bankers and the Amsterdam district of De Pijp Thursday presented a safety plan for ATM usage called, "safety spot." The initiative is meant to discourage skimmer crimes.

The yellow half-circle spots will appear on the sidewalk just in front of the ATM machine, offering a physical distance level to keep others far enough away from users.

Additionally, the safety spot is meant to give a sense of awareness of ATM behaviour and encourage safety, say the parties concerned.

The semi-circle will appear at eleven spots in De Pijp until the end of the year. If successful, they may be implemented nationally.
