As over twelve million eligible voters in the Netherlands choose a new parliament, stations across the country will be open until 21.00 hours. While most polls opened at 07.30, airport workers were able to cast their vote starting at 05.00 hours.
it is still too early to make predictions, however polls suggest the race is neck and neck. The difference between the VVD and PvdA has narrowed over the last days, with focus on the choices of the undecided group of voters.
By 20.30 hours, broadcast news across the country will begin announcing election results.
Originally parliamentary elections were scheduled for 2011, but after the February collapse of the fourth Balkenende government, new elections were organised.
