The A380, the largest passenger plane in the world landed this morning at Amsterdam's Schiphol airport. This is the first time the plane, nicknamed 'Superjumbo,' has arrived in the Netherlands.
At 10.00 the aircraft landed on the airport's fifth runway as part of its commercial introduction to Europe. Many flocked to the airport to witness the A380 arrival, leading the ministry of transportation to issue warnings against parking cars on the A4 highway shoulder.
The double-decker, wide-body four engine aircraft can carry up to 840 passengers. The A380 made its maiden flight on 27 April 2005 from Toulouse, France and its first commercial flight on 25 October 2007 from Singapore to Sydney.
