By The Holland Times Monday 10 May 2010, 11:05
The third stage of the Giro d'Italia Monday will cause temporary closures of roads on several highways between Amsterdam and Middelburg. Traffic disruption is expected to last for several hours.
Riders in the 93rd addition of the annual race will depart the capital at 11.00 hours and are expected to arrive in Middelburg at half past four.
According to the Ministry of Transport, congestion will be at its peak between Leiden and Hoogvliet. Exits along the A9, A12, A13, A15, and A20 as well as parts of the N57 will be closed.
On-ramps will have an average of one hour lag time as drivers wait for the caravan of riders to make their way through the area.
In total, closures will last for up to two hours. The delay in two tunnels of the Bennelux Tunnel (A4 towards Hoogvliet) will take longer.
