No more glory as squad returns home

By The Holland Times Tue. 19 June 2012

The Dutch team came home to the Netherlands on Monday with their heads bowed following a disastrous performance at Euro 2012. Tipped as favourites before the contest began, three defeats in a row sent Oranje packing much earlier than expected.
Coach Bert van Marwijk is under fire from the media and fans alike for the team's lack lustre performance, but some players have come to his defence.
"We can't blame the coach for this, he did a great job for us in the last four years," midfielder Wesley Sneijder told Reuters.
Meanwhile, the image of Dutch fans has also suffered a hit as footage of a Ukrainian reporter being harassed by inebriated Oranje supporters has gone viral. The young woman repeatedly tries to complete her report while Dutch fans shout marriage proposals, cavort for the camera and lift up her dress.
