Finals for men's and women's hockey

By The Holland Times Fri. 10 August 2012

Both the Dutch men's and women's field hockey teams have made the Olympic finals this week in what could be a great result for hockey fans.
A 9-2 victory over host nation Great Britain saw the Dutch men's field hockey team make it through to face Germany in the final. The qualifying match was a dizzying experience, with all-out attack from both Dutch and UK sides in the first half.
Three goals were scored each by Roderick Weusthof and Billy Bakker, while captain Floris Evers, shooter Mink van der Weerden and midfielder Tuen de Nooijer each contributed one goal.
Mean while, the Dutch women's field hockey team prepares to face Argentina in this evening's women's final. The semi-final against New Zealand ended in a penalty shootout with Ellen Hoog scoring the winning shot. The 3-1 victory means that the defending champions will once again play in an Olympic final and may bring home another gold.
