Dutch dominate all-around
By The Holland Times Fri. 2 March 2012
Sven Kramer won his fifth all-around title at the World Speed Skating Championships in Moscow. He beat team mate Jan Blokhuijsen in the 5,000 metre final with a time of 13:08,76 to take home the title. Another Dutcman, Koen Verweij, followed the top two spots. Also from the Netherlands, Verweij’s third place win marked the first time since 2003 that Dutch skaters have taken the competition’s gold, silver and bronze metals. Fellow Holland native, Ireen Wüst won the women’s title. It is the third all-around win of her career.
