Huygensyear 2013 kicks off in The Hague

By The Holland Times Tue. 14 May 2013

Huygensyear 2013 has started with the Constantijn & Christiaan Huygens exhibition - a golden legacy - in the Grote Kerk in The Hague.
The exhibition is an ambitious undertaking: replicas, loans, films, games and interactive exhibits in a magnificent design. The unique replica of the Oranjezaal of the royal residence Huis ten Bosch is an absolute highlight. Interactive exhibits, such as pendulums, a mega-marble run and a telescope, make Christiaan's theories intelligible for visitors of all ages.
The kiosks at the end of the exhibition, where you can seat yourself around the negotiating table, for instance, illustrate the relevance of father and son Huygens' achievements for our world today.
The explanatory notes in the exhibition are in Dutch and English. The exposition is open daily from April 25th till August 28th from 10 am till 5 pm. Admission fees and tickets are available via www.huygenstentoonstelling.nl.
From April till October, The Hague region is full of activities focussing on Constantijn and Christiaan Huygens: exhibitions, lectures, workshops for children and young people, historical Huygens trails on foot, by carriage or by boat.
